Mariah Carey has broken her silence following the deaths of her mother and sister on the same day in August.
The famous singer took to social media on Sunday to let fans know she was back after overcoming a family tragedy.
“I'm back to work,” the star wrote on Instagram. “It's been a tough few weeks but I'm so grateful for all of your love and support. I can't wait to meet my fans in China and Brazil. I love you! ❤️❤️❤️”
Carey sang a few songs, introduced fans to the tour, and proved that she's still got it going after everything she's been through.
In the video, Carey is seen rehearsing with a pianist before the show. The star, bedecked in bejeweled and dressed in all black, belts out a simple, slow version of her 2005 song “It's Like That” before subtly teasing an upcoming appearance. Carey giggles as she says, “See you soon, Chyna!”
With that, she disappeared from the camera's view.
Carrie previously confirmed that her mother, Patricia, and her sister, Allison, died on the same day in August. She didn't offer any details about the circumstances surrounding their deaths. “My heart is broken after losing my mother this past weekend. Sadly, and tragically, my sister also passed away on the same day,” she said in a statement to People magazine at the time.
“I feel blessed to have had the opportunity to spend my mother's final week with me before she passes away,” Carrie added, asking for privacy.

David Baker, a patient advocate who knew Allison personally, said she died at her New York home.
“We knew this would happen but it's still a shock,” Baker said, according to the source. “She got sick pretty quickly and passed away a month later.”

The famous singer recently completed a three-week concert run at Park MGM in Las Vegas. She has a series of overseas dates ahead, including two performances at the Beijing Workers' Stadium on September 15th and 16th, as well as a Christmas tour later in the holiday season.
