The Maricopa County Board of Supervisors recently approved $5 million in Community Solutions Funds as part of the construction costs for a new library at Litchfield Park.

Construction is scheduled to begin in summer 2025, with completion scheduled for January 2027.
“Maricopa County libraries have so much to offer, from books to entertainment to school and career development resources,” said District 4 Superintendent Clint Hickman. “Maricopa County is proud to partner with the City of Litchfield Park to provide local residents with a large, well-stocked library.” A more modern library to utilize for personal and professional growth is. ”
The new building will be 40 percent larger than the current library and feature larger program spaces, more advanced technology, and faster book return times. It will also be a key element of the cultural complex to be built on the hill, including the PW Litchfield Heritage Center, Hilltop Park and the planned Agua Fria Arts Academy. The current library will be repurposed for other public purposes in the city.
“The existing library has been a vital community gathering place for Litchfield Park residents since it was built in 1979,” said Litchfield Park Mayor Thomas Shoaf. “With generous support from Supervisor Hickman and the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors, we hope to deepen community engagement and build a new facility that will enhance the library experience for Litchfield Park families for years to come. That’s what I think.
The City of Litchfield Park has owned and maintained the existing library facility since 1989. Library operations and staffing are provided by the Maricopa County Library District. The City and Library District will collaborate in the process of designing a library that best meets the community’s evolving library needs.
“We have partnered with the City of Litchfield Park for many years to provide excellent library services, and we are excited to be a part of this exciting new chapter,” said Maricopa County Library District Director Jeremy Reeder. ” states. “With its thoughtfully designed layout, state-of-the-art facilities, and prime location within the cultural complex, the new library will create a vibrant hub for community programs and partnerships.”
Supervisor Hickman has allocated $5 million in Community Solutions funds to support this project. The county budget provides a set amount of community solutions funding to each supervisor each year to advance Maricopa County’s strategic goals and provide tangible public benefits to residents.
