The deputy suffered a knee injury and was taken to the hospital, according to Maricopa County Sheriff's Office officials.
SUN CITY, Ariz. — A Maricopa County Sheriff's Office deputy was injured Friday after responding to a call about a possibly suicidal person.
When deputies arrived on scene near Bell Road and 99th Street, they attempted to calm the individual and deliver some supplies and assistance to the individual.

“The man suddenly began attacking the deputy, resulting in a physical confrontation,” an MCSO spokesman said.
Both men were taken to a nearby hospital for examination, authorities said. The officer appeared to have injured his knee during the encounter, but “neither man's condition is serious,” authorities said.
It is unclear what crimes the person is facing.
