A man was shot dead by a sheriff’s deputy in Guadalupe on Friday, according to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities have not confirmed whether both the suspect and police opened fire. However, no lawmakers were injured.
Around 9:40 p.m., officers were dispatched to search Guadalupe Avenue and the Highland Canal for the gunman, said the Maricopa County sheriff’s deputy.
Afterwards, sheriffs attempted to contact the suspect, later identified as Thomas Ramirez Martínez, 42, “resulting in a shooting involving the sheriff,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement. It happened.”
Sgt. Sheriff’s Office spokesman Calvert Gillette declined to confirm whether the suspect fired the shot.
Ramirez Martinez was taken to hospital with mortal injuries, but was later pronounced dead. No law enforcement officers or bystanders were injured, Gillette said.
