A Maricopa man was killed Wednesday night when two vehicles collided on California State Route 347 and Riggs Road.
Maricopa’s Anthony Valenzuela, 25, was pronounced dead at the scene after his motorcycle collided with a Jeep Wrangler at Riggs Road and SR 347, according to DPS spokesman Bert Graves. Valenzuela said he was on the southbound SR 347 and from the northbound lane of the SR 347 he hit a Jeep Wrangler that was about to turn left onto Riggs Road, Graves said.
The jeep driver was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.
Southbound SR 347 remained closed for several hours while the crash was investigated.
It was the latest in a string of incidents over the past 10 days that disrupted southbound traffic on SR347. His three incidents during rush hour closed highways last week and caused a massive back-up. A large truck accidentally dumped gravel in the middle of the road near Casablanca Road. Another incident near Casablanca Road completely engulfed a car in flames and another fatal crash on Riggs Road.
