Maricopa mom arrested on domestic violence charges

Maricopa police arrested a 47-year-old woman on suspicion of domestic violence after getting into an argument with her daughter.

According to a police report, just before 2 p.m. on Dec. 20, officers responded to a disturbance call in Glenwild. The caller told police that her mother, Tamara Anderson, had tried to break into the room during an argument.

Police found a large wound on the bedroom door that appeared to have been inflicted by a “large knife.”

The daughter told police she had gotten into an argument with her mother over the home's internet connection and threatened to shut down her mother's business. Anderson then allegedly followed her to her bedroom with the weapon and attempted to break into her.

Police found a set of branch cutters in the mother's room that “fitted perfectly” to the damaged area of the door, according to the police report.

Anderson admitted to arguing and banging on the door, but denied using a branch clipper and said he became “agitated” when officers confronted him. She claimed the damage had already been done, even though new debris was found around the door.

Police arrested Anderson, who allegedly told her he was going to “hurt” her daughter.

Anderson was booked into the Pinal County Jail on domestic violence charges of criminal damage and disorderly conduct. She could face a year in prison and a $5,000 fine.
