Maricopa police officers shown in video shooting man

PHOENIX – Authorities released body camera footage on Wednesday of shooting a Maricopa Police Station official who shot and killed a man who appeared to be threatening his father with a knife earlier this year.

The 39-year-old man, holding a knife in each hand, stood next to his father in the hallway as officers entered the residence.

Officers can hear footage of the suspect telling the suspect to raise his hand and separate his father.

As his father moves behind the wall, the suspect moves towards him in what authorities later described as a threatening method.

That’s when officers discharge a deadly, non-fatal weapon and attack the suspect.

The man whose name is not disclosed was taken to a hospital where he was treated for his injuries.

The case is currently under investigation into the possibility of criminal charges.

Additionally, the Pinal Regional Special Investigation Unit is investigating how officers handle the case. This is the standard procedure for police shootings.
