A Glenwild woman is behind bars after allegedly stabbing a man in her bed with a knife a month ago.
The Maricopa Police Department arrested Evangeline White, 40, at her home on Crestview Lane around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to a probable cause statement. There, police found White with an unidentified man, whose relationship with White has not been made public.
White told police that on August 16, she got into an argument with a man and while he was lying in bed, she knifed him in the leg and foot “to prevent him from becoming aggressive towards her.” He said he rubbed it. She said the man then got out of bed and punched her.
The man showed police video footage of the August incident. The footage showed White making “stabbing motions” with the knife. The man claimed he had been stabbed in the leg with a knife, but officers did not confirm the injury as time had passed.
Based on the video and the victim’s statement, police arrested White and booked him into the Pinal County Jail on a felony charge. Aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
If convicted in Maricopa Municipal Court, she could face a minimum sentence of seven years and a maximum of 21 years in prison. According to Arizona law, this crime is not subject to probation.
