The City of Maricopa's Information Technology team is a 12-person team that has been instrumental in delivering significant technology advancements over the past four years. release The city's efforts detailed accomplishments such as rolling out high-speed fiber optic internet to city buildings and installing resilient backup systems to ensure the network continues to operate. Additionally, the city migrated critical software programs to the cloud, allowing the community to access city resources remotely. Maricopa IT Department Copper Sky facilities have also been enhanced with comprehensive Wi-Fi coverage and expanded use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
All of these technology upgrades and initiatives are focused on fiscal responsibility. Chief Information Officer Michael Collins said he's proud not only of the department's performance, but also of how effectively it manages city resources. “By eliminating waste and negotiating closely with vendors, we've been able to keep our annual budget conservative.” Collins said,Demonstrate a commitment to economic spending to residents.
Another under-the-radar part of the bureau's work is working with cell phone companies and internet service providers, eager to keep outside organizations up to date on the city's developments so that infrastructure can keep up with the needs of residents.
