PHOENIX — After losing his candidacy for Arizona Secretary of State in 2022, Mark Finchem filed a lawsuit to overturn the election results. His lawsuit was dismissed and he now faces sanctions.
The Maricopa County Superior Court ruled that his lawsuit was “frivolous and not brought in good faith,” documents show.
Finchem lawsuit It opposed then-Secretary of State Katie Hobbs, Finchem opponents Secretary of State, Democrat Adrian Fontes, and Rep. Reuben Gallego.
The lawsuit, which alleges Maricopa County “failed miserably” in conducting fair and safe elections, focused primarily on technical problems at some polling stations.

Judge Melissa Julian granted Katie Hobbs’ motion to dismiss the case. In December, Secretary of State Adrian Fontes, along with then Arizona Secretary of State Katie Hobbs, applied for sanctions.
“None of contestant Finchem’s allegations, even if true, would have changed the vote count enough to overcome the 120,000 votes needed to influence the outcome of this election,” the court said. has announced.
The court ordered Finkem and his legal team to pay Hobbes and Fontes’ attorneys’ fees and other costs associated with the proceedings.
