“If she runs to him, I know exactly what she says to try to defeat him. It’s very difficult to imagine how Schumer could come back because the way to beat her is going to be negative to her. Halperin said, “And I think he has to stop the race because if she runs away to him, he doesn’t think he can protect her.”

Halperin also referenced a new poll that led Schumer, who led Ocasio-Cortez in the fictional Democratic Senate primary, but he said “it’s not necessarily the largest poll in the world.”

Progress data Opinion surveyreleased Friday, found lawmakers beat Senators by 55% to 36% in a potential matchup.

Schumer, a Senate minority leader, has experienced significant criticism from within his own party since his decision to help pass a GOP-backed funding bill to avoid government shutdowns.

Former Clinton voter Mark Penn also warned in March that Schumer, who Ocasio-Cortez challenged, could do a devastating blow to their party.

“I don’t think she’ll try Schumer, but if that’s the case, the democratic rating has already dropped to 29%. I’ve never seen anything like that,” Penn said. “That means the base on the left is the same as the Democrats and all moderates have left the party, so the AOC can strip Schumer and end this party.

Polling from CNN/SSRS NBC News The ones released in March found that Democrats were popular at 29% and 27%, respectively.
