Maryland basketball head coach Kevin Willard decided to talk about rumors unfolding around him, the Villanova Wildcats and open coaching positions and Terrapin athletic director Damon Evans, while speaking at an availability session for the NCAA Tournament Media on Thursday.
It is rumoured that Willard is a candidate for Villanova’s job, but it appears Evans will head to SMU for an advertising position. (Related: Stephen Ashworth’s Toddler Adorably Steals the Headline of the Insanity of March)
A considerable amount of upset Willard had the opportunity to absolutely blow up Evans on the podium and put out some of what insiders have reported regarding the tension between Willard and Evans. And Willard’s top complaints seem unwilling to Evans, who is reluctant to invest his money in the Maryland basketball program.
“You know, I wanted to spend more nights this year in New York to celebrate Christmas with my team. I said Willard. “So I don’t know how we can become a top tier program. And it’s too expensive so you can’t stay in New York for a night. So, for my team and my program, there’s the basics I’m fighting for.”
