Massachusetts Governor Orders Sweeping Shelter Inspections After Illegal Migrant Arrested With AR-15, Drugs

Massachusetts Democratic Gov. Maura Healey on Monday ordered all state emergency evacuations after an illegal immigrant was arrested with an AR-15 rifle and hundreds of thousands of dollars in drugs in a taxpayer-funded hotel room. An on-site inspection was ordered.

In late December, 28-year-old Dominican Leonardo Andujar Sanchez was charged with illegal possession of a firearm, heroin trafficking, and other charges after local police in Revere, Massachusetts, discovered an AR-15 rifle and approximately five rounds of ammunition. “It is outrageous that this individual took advantage of our nation’s shelter system to engage in criminal activity,” the Democratic governor said Monday.
