Max Power begins lithium exploration in Arizona, US

Canadian miner Max Power Mining Lithium Exploration Begins At the Wilcox Playa Project in Cochise County, Arizona, USA.

Max Power made its foray into the US lithium industry last month with the acquisition of the Willcox Playa project.

The project is located 321 km southeast of Arizona and covers an area of nearly 129 km². High concentrations of lithium are believed to be found in claystone and salt water.

The company uses Hybrid Source Audio Magnetotellurics (HSAMT) surveying and gravity surveying across land covering 3,754 acres.

Previous geophysical surveys from the U.S. Geological Survey have shown that there is a low-gravity dual anomaly superimposed with an electromagnetic high electrical conductivity anomaly in the air.

Low gravity also indicates thick zones containing less dense rocks, and electromagnetic heights indicate the presence of metals such as lithium beneath the Wilcox Playa region.

Max Power has three goals. mapping sedimentary layer thickness; mapping geological structures to identify conductors; and prioritizing drilling targets.

Gravity and HSAMT tests are conducted by Hasbrouck Geophysics, a local geophysics consultant.

The test included a 500m-spaced grid and is expected to confirm the existence of the double anomaly in greater detail compared to previous investigations.

After the acquisition last month, Max Power CEO Rav Mlait said the company is looking to grow its shareholder base “exponentially” this year through units in the United States and Canada.

Mlait added:

“Additionally, this structure offers the potential for a variety of strategic corporate options to further enhance shareholder value, including the spin-out of certain assets should the opportunity arise.”
