MOHAVE COUNTY – Mojave Community College’s Bullhead City and Lake Havasu City campuses are preparing to host an exciting community event called the Bighorn Trek that will showcase higher education and career opportunities in each community. The event will also feature a Sean Shine Car Show hosted by the university's automotive program.
The Bullhead City campus event will be held in conjunction with the ARIZONA@WORK recruitment event and car show on Thursday, March 28 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Lake Havasu City event will be held one week later on Friday, April 5th from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., and will also include a car show. His ARIZONA @ WORK recruitment event on the Havasu campus will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.
“This is an opportunity for members of our community to visit and learn more about community colleges. Imagine having a college open house all day long,” said Lake Havasu. said Dr. Maria Ayon, Dean of Student and Community Engagement. “Bring your mom, dad, grandma, grandpa, brothers, sisters, cousins, and anyone else who would like to learn more about what we can offer.”
In Lake Havasu, the university partnered with Arizona Youth Partnership and Not My Kid to sponsor a parent workshop in Spanish and English focused on teen mental health starting at 7 a.m. There is.
Bighorn Trek connects community members, students, and business leaders to help improve lives and communities.
“The Bighorn Trek is one of the biggest events we have here on our Bullhead City campus. We continue to focus on the Tri-State workforce and promote expanding career paths and regional four-year college transfer partnerships. “We hope to continue to do so,” said Gary Cooper, director of student and community engagement at the Bullhead City campus. “This employee event not only allows us to roll out the MCC red carpet, but also connects people of all ages with the opportunities we have here and throughout our community.”
Participants will have the opportunity to meet with university lecturers and local businesses to learn about the skills they need to succeed. Recruiting events highlight current job openings in the area.
Additionally, car enthusiasts can show off their hot rods at the Bighorn Trek Show 'n Shine Car Show held at both campuses. Registration fees are $20 per car, and awards will be given in categories such as Best Engine, Best Paint, Student's Choice, and Best Painting.
