Mojave Community College (MCC) is looking to purchase land for Kingman Airport Industrial Park after Sunbelt Development failed to fulfill its 10-acre donation pledge to the Advanced Manufacturing Training Center in 2021. Her VP of Managed Services, Jennifer Dixon, provided some background on the project at her MCC board meeting on March 10.
“We expected to build an advanced manufacturing training center on the donated land. Sunbelt has not yet completed its restructuring,” Dixon said. “It’s been three years since he was first approached about donating land.”
Dixon said university officials discussed other options with Kingman Economic Development Director Bennett Bratley and advised that the two available industrial park plots could be of interest. She said one has rails and the board has approved the pursuit of the purchase of the other.
The board has approved bids up to $300,000, the value of the property, to purchase the 7-acre parcel. The unsealed bid submitted by the university must be $300,000 to affect the purchase, as the city cannot sell below the appraised value.
A possible land sale is scheduled for next Tuesday at the Kingman City Council.
