TEMPE, Arizona — A lieutenant with the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Department was involved in a serious crash early Wednesday morning in Tempe.
The collision occurred near a country road and a baseline road.
Video from the scene shows both the overturned semi-truck and the marked MCSO vehicle veering off the roadway at the intersection.
A Tempe Police Department investigator said the MCSO lieutenant on duty was traveling south across an intersection when he was hit by an eastbound semi-truck.
The ABC15 crew saw the lieutenant put on a stretcher and taken to a hospital for treatment, but the MCSO says the lieutenant suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said neither driver had any signs of impediment.
Avoid the area on Wednesday morning while the crew finishes investigating and clears the crash site.
