MCSO investigating dog shooting in East Valley

The injured animal was transported to a veterinarian for treatment, according to the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office.

MESA, Ariz. — The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office is investigating a dog being shot that was reported in the Mesa area Wednesday morning.

Officers were dispatched to a report of a shooting near the intersection of Ellsworth Road and Pueblo Avenue around 10 a.m. Upon arrival, officers were told a dog had been shot by its owner, and the animal was transported to a veterinarian for treatment.

MCSO said a man is in custody and police are continuing to investigate.
