Assault on Police Officer/Drug Possession – Fort Mojave
A Mohave County Sheriff's Office deputy was arrested in Bullhead City on charges of aggravated assault on a police officer, resisting arrest, possession of dangerous drugs, tampering with evidence, and possession of drug paraphernalia, all felonies, and a misdemeanor count of possession of an open liquor container. Resident Floyd Michael Patten, 54, was arrested. On Wednesday (Jan. 10), deputies observed a red sedan enter a closed section of Highway 95 near Camp Mojave Road (closed due to road construction). Deputies activated their lights and sirens and initiated a traffic stop in the 4600 block of Route 95, where Patten, the only occupant of the vehicle, got out of the vehicle. When Patten returned to his car, he was asked for identification, and when he removed his wallet from his pocket, a bag containing a white powdery substance was observed on the floorboard. Patten was asked to exit the vehicle, but did not comply with the deputy's commands. Deputies attempted to remove Patten from the vehicle and a confrontation ensued. During the struggle, Patten stepped on the bag multiple times, causing minor injuries to the deputy who was involved. Additional officers arrived on scene and took Mr. Patten into custody. A search of the vehicle revealed drug paraphernalia and open containers of alcohol. Mr. Patten tested positive for methamphetamine and was transported without incident to the Mohave County Adult Detention Facility in Kingman.
