The health professional association's latest standard of care guidelines recommend that government officials receive “cultural awareness training” on how to treat transgender people.
World Association of Transgender Health Professionals (W pass) is an organization whose mission is to promote evidence-based care, education, research, public policy, and respect in transgender health. In 2022, WPATH published Updated Standards of Care Guidance.

“In this document, We aim to be as broad and inclusive as possible in describing members of the diverse communities around the world who are made up of people whose gender identities and expressions differ from the sex assigned to them at birth and socially ascribed to them. use the phrase transgender and gender diversity (TGD). ” states the standard treatment guidelines.
according to web page The National Institutes of Health (NIH) has announced that an individual's sex is determined at conception, not at birth. “Humans and most other mammals have two sex chromosomes (X and Y), the combination of which determines an individual's sex,” the NIH website says. “Women have two X chromosomes in their cells, while men have one X and one Y.”
However, the WPATH guidance states that “the best quality data clearly show that TGD people represent a substantial and growing proportion of the general population.”
“We encourage all employees working in government, non-government, and private organizations to receive cultural awareness training focused on treating transgender and gender diverse individuals with dignity and respect. ” states the report. “We ensure that all members of our healthcare workforce receive cultural awareness training focused on treating transgender and gender diverse individuals with dignity during orientation and as part of annual or continuing education. We recommend that you do so.”
“Implementing cultural knowledge training requires leaders who are willing to prioritize training and commit time, money, and human capital to providing initial and ongoing training,” the guidance states.
Formerly as DCNF reporta prominent surgeon presenting at a WPATH-sponsored event in 2022, said complications from surgery to create a vagina in men “can be pretty severe.”
WPATH did not respond to DCNF's request for comment.
