Comfortable Smug, co-host of the “Russy” podcast, told SiriusXM’s Megin Kelly on Thursday that the “crazy” idea of ”white guilt” led New York City progressives to select Socialist Democrat Zoran Mamdani as a candidate for Democratic mayor.
After NYC’s votes ended Tuesday, Mamdani secured the nomination following a concession from former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo before the race was officially called. While discussing Mamdani’s victory in “The Megyn Kelly Show,” Mamdani said he won the city’s high-income class called “In Droves.”
“If you look at the breakdowns where he won, Mamdani won in New York City and the middle-class and the wealthy people came out in large numbers to vote for him,” Smug said comfortably. “So this crazy white guilt is like, “Well, white people are evil. Capitalism is evil. Despite my place on the Upper East Side, capitalism is a scary system.[nue] I go shopping in Madison every day. That’s a great system for me. ”
According to the New York Times projectionMamdani defeated Cuomo 10 points among “middle-income” voters and around 13 points among “high-income” voters, while Cuomo led “low-income” voters by an estimated 13 points. According to NYT data, Mamdani won white voters with around five points, Hispanic voters about six points, and Asian voters about 15 points. In comparison, Cuomo has gained strong support from black voters, defeating Mamdani about 18 points.
“But I think we need communists. They’ll get what they deserve. For so many people – I’m included – People who no longer live in New York, there is no place there, see what they did. Comfortable Smug told Kelly.
“It really beat the old talent pool of candidates, right?” asked fellow “ruthless” co-host Josh Holmes. “We basically chose between the man who killed your grandmother and the man who killed the socialist psychopath and the man who is now.
Since securing the mayor’s appointment, Mamdani’s policy has been attracting attention as many people in the city have already expressed concern about the direction the Socialist Democrats can take. In addition to raising the NYC minimum wage to $30, Mamdani is also looking to fund a variety of free amenities by increasing taxes for businesses and highly-operated workers, generating an estimated $10 billion.
Mamdani is also an outspoken critic of President Donald Trump’s crackdown on illegal immigration, despite being one of the main concerns among voters ahead of the 2024 election. If elected, Mamdani plans to end cooperation between US immigrants and customs enforcement and “hold to Trump” the city by investing more than $160 million in immigrant legal funds.
