Megyn Kelly Rips Katie Britt’s ‘Totally Cringe’ SOTU Rebuttal: ‘I Don’t Know What The F I Saw’

SiriusXM's Megyn Kelly mocked Republican Alabama Sen. Katie Britt's rebuttal to President Joe Biden's State of the Union address.

Britt's rebuttal was criticized, with some likening it to a bad acting audition and others complaining about the fact that she was in the kitchen. Kelly said Friday that Britt's rebuttal was “absolutely disgusting” due to her “excessive emotions.”

“I don't know what I saw. I agree with people who said it looked like she was auditioning for a Lifetime show. Drama, fake love, too much emotion.” Depiction. I could not believe that she had such feelings at all. Her sincerity was, as the kids say, completely disgusting. Sorry, I thought so. ,” Kelly said.

Kelly continued to criticize Britt on Friday's show, playing highlights of her own rebuttal. At one point, the Alabama senator appeared to be on the verge of tears while discussing the southern border. “Okay, she was embarrassed. She embarrassed the Republican Party, and she embarrassed women,” Kelly continued. “It was embarrassing. I was appalled by her performance, and I really thought it would take years for her to recover from that performance.”

Sara Gonzalez, host of “Sarah Gonzalez Unfiltered,” agreed with Kelly's version of the rebuttal, arguing that Republicans missed an opportunity to respond to Biden's speech. Instead, Gonzalez said she was “also embarrassed” by Porter's “over-dramatized” performance.

Josh Hammer, host of “America on Trial with Josh Hammer,” said Britt looked like an “insecure high school senior” who was “about to pass out in front of a star quarterback.”

“The whole thing is over the top. To be honest, I've never been a big fan of Katie Britt to begin with. I don't think she's particularly sympathetic to the current Republican atmosphere. It seems like she came from the old school commercial sector. She definitely didn't do herself any favors,” Hammer said.

Hammer called it a “very poor performance,” but raised the question of when was the last time there was a proper rebuttal in a State of the Union address in recent years.

Kelly argued that Republicans are focusing too much on identity politics instead of choosing the right candidate for the job.

Outkick columnist Mary Kathryn Hamm told Fox News that Britt's rebuttal “could have been more effective” and argued that it could have been taken “two notches” down. “The View” co-host complained On Friday, the government put a woman in the kitchen to protest, symbolizing the 1950s stay-at-home mom.
