We finally got an answer from Paramount+ on Thursday about plans for the first Yellowstone sequel spinoff series, directed by Taylor Sheridan. Here's everything we know as of Thursday, August 8 morning.
According to a press release shared with The Daily Caller, Oscar nominee Michelle Pfeiffer has officially been signed to executive produce and star in Taylor Sheridan's new series, “Madison,” which was previously titled “2024.” The series is described as the next “in” the “Yellowstone” universe, suggesting a crossover with the Dutton Yellowstone Ranch story, but not necessarily an exact sequel.
“The series is a heartfelt portrayal of grief and relationships, following a New York City family living in the Madison River Valley of central Montana,” Paramount said in a press release.

“Michelle Pfeiffer has an incredible ability to imbue every role with emotional depth, authenticity and grace,” said Chris McCarthy, co-CEO of Paramount Global and president and CEO of Showtime and MTV Entertainment Studios. “She is the perfect anchor for this franchise's latest chapter. [“Yellowstone”] universe, [“Madison”]This is the product of the brilliant mind of Taylor Sheridan.” (RELATED: Cody Johnson claims he's in talks to star in film with Taylor Sheridan)

Other than rumors surrounding Patrick J. Adams and Kurt Russell, there are no updates on who will star alongside Pfeiffer on screen.
It also appears that Matthew McConaughey's dreams of joining the Yellowstone universe are on hold: He reportedly asked for an exorbitant amount of money to join the series, which Sheridan and his team presumably (and understandably) rejected.
