A video of Rolling Stones rocker Mick Jagger finding out exactly how his Canadian fans feel about Prime Minister Justin Trudeau went viral on Monday.
That brief moment Captured from multiple The song, which begins with Angle, begins with Mick Jagger telling the Vancouver crowd, “I love you Mr. Trudeau,” to which fans immediately responded with low boos.
“Because his family has always been huge fans of our band,” Jagger continued as the boos and jeers grew louder. At this point, the 80-year-old British singer stopped his comments and gave the fan a cheeky smile. Jagger clearly got the message, and quickly changed the subject to Canada's soccer team. The situation seemed to be defused, and the clip was cut short.
Mick Jagger was booed after saying Trudeau's name, but from this angle you can see he was laughing.

After hearing his fans' feelings, Mick Jagger would have been wise to avoid the Trudeau subject. In March 2024, the Trudeau government will pass legislation that could see all of his fans jailed for “speech offences” against the prime minister, and I'm sure Mick didn't want that to happen. The Online Harms Act technically only applies to digital content and much of it focuses on protecting children, but an analysis of the bill's wording shows it targets content that “incites hatred.”

Call me crazy, but most of the Mick Jagger crowd in Vancouver was far from Trudeau supporters. I don't know if I would say they hate the Prime Minister, but these videos and the comments that accompanied them are clearly not kind to him. Was the man who shouted at Trudeau during his visit to London, “Canadians hate you, you bastard!” in attendance? It certainly sounded like he was.
