There were no migrants at popular crossing points along the border Thursday morning
Yuma, Arizona (KECY, KYMA) – There are signs that immigration rates are slowing in Yuma.
The area just north of the Kokopa settlement saw more than 1,000 migrants per day in December.
But early Thursday morning, not a single immigrant was seen at the site.
In his State of the Union address, President Biden touted efforts to target more immigrants for Title 42 deportation.
The move has reduced local border crossings by 60%.
But he called for bipartisan immigration reform from Congress.
With Title 42’s new end date in May, the urgency has increased.
“As a result, illegal immigration from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua and Venezuela has decreased by 97%. But America’s border problem will not be resolved until Congress takes action,” Biden said.
Oral argument in the Title 42 Supreme Court case is still set for March 1st.
Although the policy is set to end on May 11th.
