Returning to the Lake Havasu City Chapter of the Mojave County Library is another exhibit installed by the Mojave Military Museum.
The nonprofit’s April exhibit, titled “Hats Off Salute,” opens at the beginning of the month and rotates twice in May and June. The museum’s president and curator, Trudy Hernandez, said the current exhibit includes a variety of military hats.
In May and June, Hernandez says the exhibit will be updated with currently curated items.
“These small-scale exhibits allow us to highlight the smallest curated items generously donated by veterans, residents and businesses throughout Mojave County,” Hernandez said. In honor of both Memorial Day and Flag Day, we look forward to displaying several newly donated items in the coming months.”
Hernandez said the museum first appeared in the library last May in honor of Memorial Day. The continuation followed after the library requested an extension of the June military exhibit.
Hernandez said Kingman’s Mojave Community College Neal Campus will hold its first exhibit starting May 8, as well as the February exhibit at ASU Havasu.
The Kingman exhibit, aptly named “What So Proudly We Hail,” showcases items donated by three individuals in the city. U.S. Army Veteran Corporal Cody Price served in Iraq and will exhibit his artwork. Hernandez notes that Price is also a student at his Kingman’s Neal Campus.
The map of Korean War veteran Leonard Moschkau is created to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Korean War. Kingman resident Janet Wilson, who served in the U.S. Air Force, has a collection that showcases “four generations of enlisted families from World War I to the Persian Gulf,” Hernandez says.
“It’s always been an honor and privilege to share exhibits within our local community and county,” Hernandez said. “Often visitors don’t know what to expect before seeing the exhibits at the Mojave Military Museum, but as a small museum with a specialized focus, visitors can find authentic exhibits dating back to World War I.” You can see military items up close.”
Exhibits at the Lake Havasu City Chapter of the Mojave County Library are open to the public during normal business hours. Kingman’s Mohave Community College Neal Campus will be on display at the Veterans Affairs Center in Building 300.
Both exhibitions are free for visitors. For more information about the Mojave Military Museum, please email mmmsalute@gmail.com.
