Missing Maricopa teen found, arrested

A Tortosa teenager who was missing for more than a month has been found and is now in police custody, the boy's mother confirmed today.

Yvette Sainz Tapia said her son, Javier Alzuhair Sainz, 16, was found and arrested yesterday in Homestead. Alzuhair Sainz left his home at about 10pm on August 3rd with two pillowcases stuffed with clothes.

“He basically walked out the door and came to pick me up in his car,” Tapia said. MaricopaShe said she believed he was running away from a juvenile court date the next day.

Alzuhair Sainz was last seen on Aug. 12 at Sabor a la Michoacana in Coolidge.

Maricopa Police Department spokesperson Monica Williams confirmed today that Alzuhair Sainz is “not registered as a runaway/missing person.”

Because he is a juvenile, details of his arrest and the charges against him have not been made public.
