Tom Toupe Passes Away at 97

Renowned actor Tom Toupe died on Sunday morning at his home in Beverly Hills at the age of 97.

The news was shared on Instagram by his nephew, Mark Cocanorzer, who wrote, “My uncle, Tom Toupe, passed away peacefully at home this morning. He left as elegantly as a lovely and complete life.”

Toupe, known for his roles in “Star Trek” and “Mission Impossible,” reportedly died from natural causes.

Cocanorzer mentioned, “His dear son, Christopher, was here all day yesterday. It was a source of peace for them and for me.” He expressed gratitude for the impact Tom and his wife, Carol Cook, had on their friends and fans over the years.

Throughout his lengthy career, Toupe accumulated numerous credits. He began acting in local theater, served in the Korean War, and made his Broadway debut in 1957 with a role in “The Diary of Anne Frank.”

His significant career took off when he moved to Los Angeles, where he secured various roles in both television and film.

His filmography includes titles like “The Big Fisherman,” “The Devil’s Brigade,” “Che!,” “Kelly’s Heroes,” “Summer School,” and “My Private Idaho.” On the small screen, he appeared in series such as “Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman,” “Cagney & Lacey,” “Murder, She Wrote,” “Highway to Heaven,” and “Cheers.”

In 2002, Toupe and his late wife became the first couple to win the Theatre Ovation Award for Career Achievement.

He is survived by his son Christopher, daughter-in-law Becky Coulter, granddaughter Ashley, and several nieces and nephews. Fans and loved ones are sharing their tributes to the beloved actor online.
