MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred Announces That He Will Retire In 2029

Thank heaven! Rob Manfred is doing a great job! …2029.

Speaking to reporters in Florida on Thursday, Manfred said he plans to step down after his contract expires. Yes, that's 2029. That's right, folks, we're going to have a new commissioner in five years. It's cool, but I'm disappointed they didn't do it sooner.

“I'm 65 years old. I just started my five-year term. Do the math. That makes me 70 years old. You'll only have so much fun once in your life,” Manfred said. (Related: What a shame: The Sunshine State is killing my livelihood and the livelihoods of millions of other Floridians by crippling DFS)

He also said he was completely open with the club's owners about his future retirement.

Manfred was appointed as MLB commissioner. 2015who succeeded Bud Selig, who had run a reign of terror since 1992.

To be honest, I don't think I ever liked Rob Manfred. And that feeling only grew stronger when he stripped my beloved Atlanta Braves of their rights to the 2021 MLB All-Star Game because of a Georgia election law meant to protect the process.
