As the search for the missing 12-year-old Arizona girl enters its second week, the girl’s mother is “scary to death”.
Betty Taylor was reported missing by her family eight days ago after she told her father she was going for a walk and didn’t return to her home in Safford, Arizona, according to the Graham County Sheriff’s Office.
Over the weekend, community volunteers spread throughout the town of Graham County distributing missing persons flyers to raise awareness about the disappearance of children.
Police also used helicopters, search dogs and drones to search for the girl, while officers on horseback and all-terrain vehicles were located at the base of the Pinaleno Mountains in southeastern Arizona, about 130 miles from Tucson. I searched the desert area around the small town. .
“I’m scared to death for what she’s going through. I don’t know if she’s out there alone. I don’t know if she’s in a safe place. I don’t know if she’s eating. I don’t even know,” Bonnie Jones, the girl’s distressed mother, told the ABC affiliate. KNXV in Phoenix.
A statement from the Graham County Sheriff’s Office said Betty was last seen leaving the house around 11 a.m. on March 20, telling her father, Justin Taylor, that she was going for a walk. When she failed to return home by 6 p.m. that night, her family searched for her and reported her missing at 8 p.m.
The girl is 5 feet tall, 5 inches tall, weighs 135 pounds, has hazel eyes and shoulder-length brown hair with red highlights. She left the house wearing black trainers with white lettering on her front, her neon colored baseball cap, her blue jeans, her Vans tennis shoes in turquoise and pink.
She was also wearing a purple JanSport backpack, according to the sheriff’s office.
Sheriff officials urged anyone with information about the girl’s whereabouts to call 911 immediately or contact investigators at (929) 428-3141.
