Montgomery Regional among worst airports in nation for delays

We have all had such experiences.

Air travel delays are not an unknown concept to anyone.

but, Destinations Of the roughly 2 million flights served, one airport in Alabama has some of the worst delay times in the country, according to data from the Bureau of Transportation Statistics.

On the top 10 list, Montgomery Regional Airport ranked eighth with an average flight delay of one hour and 23 minutes.

A total of 404 flights were delayed in Montgomery for a total of 33,565 minutes, meaning airport patrons experienced a total of 23 days of delays.

Many of the airports on the list were large international airports, so the numbers were inflated to be higher than Montgomery's.

For example, Dallas-Fort Worth ranked third on the list, with 66,105 of 308,806 flights delayed for an average time of one hour and 29 minutes. This means that passengers at the airport experienced 4,096 days' worth of delays, more than 21 percent of flights were delayed.

“Interestingly, there's no clear trend in the data regarding airport size. With so many flights arriving at larger airports like San Diego International or Nashville International, it's not surprising people would assume that these larger airports would regularly experience significant delays,” said Jason Wilson, CEO of Place to Travel.

“However, research shows that a huge number of flights are still being delayed, resulting in stress for travellers and cancelled connecting flights, and to rectify this, air travel infrastructure needs to rapidly adapt to accommodate large volumes of passengers.”

Montgomery Airport is the smallest airport on the list, making its inclusion on the list all the more notable.

Airports with fewer than 365 flights during the period were excluded to avoid skewing the data. Destinations.
