According to a report released on August 7, several new cast members will be joining the “Yellowstone” prequel, “1923,” for season two.
“1923” was supposed to be a one-off limited series following the harrowing “1883,” a prequel to the original “Yellowstone.” The series, which starred Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren as the patriarch and daughter of the Dutton family, was a huge hit. So much so that creator Taylor Sheridan, his team at Paramount+ and 101 Studios decided to leave fans with a major cliffhanger at the end of season one.
Joining Ford, Mirren and the rest of the original cast will be a few new faces, including Augustus Prew, who will reportedly join the second season as Paul, a dapper, bookish, wealthy young Englishman aboard the cruise liner. Reports Deadline. This guy will try to win the heart of Alexandra (Julia Schlaepfer) as she returns to Montana and Spencer Dutton (Brandon Sklener). As with all of Sheridan's series, prepare for heartbreak.

Next up is Jennifer Carpenter, known to many for her role in “Dexter.” according to According to Deadline, Carpenter will play Deputy Sheriff Mamie Fossett, and Janet Montgomery will star as Hillary, “a thoughtful young woman who doesn't want injustice to go unpunished.” (Related: '1923' is even better than 'Yellowstone' (Spoiler Alert))
While “Yellowstone” will come to an end with its upcoming fifth and final season, bringing back “1923” is a great way to remind fans that Dutton's story can't be defined solely by the flagship show. Rumor has it that this will be the second and final season of “1923,” but there are also plans for a “Yellowstone” sequel titled “The Madison” or “2024.”

What I'm most excited to see is how Amina Nieves' Theona Rainwater will journey through this harrowing chapter in American history. Where will her story overlap with Dutton's Yellowstone Ranch — or if it overlaps at all? It makes sense that her escape from Catholic boarding school will be the catalyst for the creation of Thomas Rainwater and his eventual ascension to ranch foreman. But we do know that Rainwater was adopted; he was raised in Mexico and didn't know his biological mother until he was 18. Could Theona be his mother? Given his age, it's unlikely. But it's possible that she gave birth to him later in life. Or maybe she was his grandmother, aunt, or both.
