MORRISEY: As Political Persecution Ramps Up, West Virginia Has Trump’s Back

The United States has been in great turmoil since President Trump left office. Without his leadership, this country would have recorded record inflation. An unchecked and unmitigated crisis at our southern border. The threat of fentanyl has destroyed innocent lives and torn families apart. Undermining national security and weightism pervade our schools, universities, government agencies, and military at dangerous levels.

We've said it many times before and we'll say it again—West Virginia misses President Trump.

As West Virginia's Attorney General, I have passionately supported, defended, and promoted President Trump's America First policy. Additionally, I have consistently and aggressively defended President Trump in the face of political persecution from the radical left.

Currently, I am working with the state of Indiana on a brief to the U.S. Supreme Court to reinstate President Trump through Colorado's vote. I am also appalled by the decision by Maine's Secretary of State to remove President Trump from the ballot, a decision that is grossly inconsistent with the Constitution. I just successfully fought for the same cause in Michigan and am fighting a similar battle in West Virginia. Last month, I helped convene a coalition of 18 states, along with the state of Iowa, to ask the court to overturn the unconstitutional gag order against President Trump.

These frivolous attempts to remove potential candidates from the ballot and the use of unconstitutional gag orders rob Americans of their right to hear directly from candidates and freely choose their representatives. These are incompatible with a fair and free electoral process.

These insidious acts against the potential Republican nominee for the 2024 presidential election are pure political persecution. This kind of thing usually happens in banana republics, not the United States.

This is why I asked for President Trump's lawsuit to be moved to West Virginia. Everyone knows that President Trump will never get a fair trial in Washington, D.C.

What's even more incredible is that liberal establishment media giants are now calling President Trump a “dictator” and “authoritarian.” If we recycle such serious terms to describe our nation's leaders, The Atlantic and the Washington Post look to Joe Biden to show us that today's dictators and authoritarians are actually I want you to see what it's like.

Never in our nation's history have we seen such a blatant attempt by the current administration to imprison a potential Republican presidential nominee. Joe Biden knows he can't beat Trump at the polls, so he doesn't trust the Constitution and will stoop so low as to ignore the will of the people and politically persecute his opponents. I will do my best to And of course, the liberal establishment media obediently follows the regime's orders.

The integrity of our Constitution and the future of our country are at stake. Now, more than ever, we need to support President Trump.

Patrick Morrissey has served as West Virginia's attorney general since 2013 and is running for governor in 2024.
