Motorcycle Gang Member-Turned-Professional Golfer Ryan Peake Who Spent Time In Prison Qualifies For Open Championship

It’s safe to say that Australian golfer Ryan Peak has pulled 180 in terms of turning the wrong life into the right one. the current 31 years oldPeak officially competed in the Open Championship after winning Sunday at the New Zealand Open. And to make it crazy, this comes five years after he was in prison for 50 years.

Peak is a member of a rebel motorcycle gang, and at age 21, he was convicted of assault. At the time of his belief, he was a teammate of Cameron Smithwas selected as the 2022 Champion Golfer of the Year. When he left prison, he returned to golf and resumed his career, gaining help from lead coach Richie Smith in the process.

In the 2025 campaign, he landed an Australian tour card and won his first professional victory on Sunday.

“I always knew I could do that, but that was when I was going to do it,” Peak said. “Everyone believed, along with my family and my team, and most of all, I believed.”
