Graham County – A Safford man was killed in a motorcycle accident on March 19.
Larry James Molina, 58, was pronounced dead at Mount Graham Regional Medical Center despite the valiant efforts of police, medical first responders and accident witnesses.
The Graham County Sheriff’s Office reported that MGRMC doctors said the cause of death was a severe head injury.
Molina was reportedly riding a red 1999 motorcycle, a VT1100, on Burnie Lane near Busby Drive, south of Safford, when he veered off the road at about 5:40 p.m. Evidence at the scene corroborates eyewitness accounts of Molina trying to stabilize her bike by putting her feet down after she left the driveway. Her bike then went into the ground and Molina was thrown from it. He was not wearing a motorcycle helmet and had no motorcycle warranty on his driver’s license.
Witnesses immediately gave Molina medical attention and tried to stop the bleeding from her head with a baby blanket. Deputies then provided cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and prepared Molina for the arrival of paramedics. Upon their arrival, additional life support was administered and the agent continued CPR until his heartbeat recovered.
Once Molina’s condition stabilized, the agent helped paramedics carry him to an ambulance. He was later pronounced dead in hospital due to severe head injuries.
