Lulu Gribbin, the Mountain Brook teenager who was attacked by a shark less than two weeks ago, has undergone surgery, her family said.

He does not plan on having any surgery in the near future. The healing will begin!”

“Lulu is feisty, determined, competitive and a goal-setter,” her aunt added. “She was born that way and has a fierce competitive spirit! We believe in her and are already amazed at how much she has grown in just a week!”
Gribbin was bitten by a shark while swimming off the coast of Water Sound Beach, Florida, on June 7. Despite facing the threat of having to lose her left hand and part of her right leg, Gribbin's mother posted that Lulu was “doing fine and thriving.”
“Lulu is here, Lulu is brave, and Lulu is strong,” her father wrote.
Several local businesses are offering ways for people to donate to Lulu's care. Bandwagon Sports, an apparel store in Homewood, Shirts and hoodies $20 from each purchase will be donated directly to the Gribbin family, and the store said in a social media post that it has already received orders from all 48 contiguous states.
Smith Variety, a store in Mountain Brook's Crestline Village, is selling purple ribbons to support the Love Lulu Foundation, set up by friends of Gribbin's family.
