Democratic strategists have warned Democrats that ignoring Vice President Kamala Harris after President Joe Biden gave up on his reelection bid would be a “surefire way” to ensure former President Donald Trump is re-elected as president.
Biden announced he would no longer seek reelection in a letter published on social media on Sunday, following calls from Democrats for him to withdraw following his disastrous loss to Trump in the CNN debate on June 27. “I'll be frank with you: If Democrats want to give Donald Trump back the White House, they should let him go through the nomination process, the public nomination process, and disrespect and trample on the first Black woman vice president of the country,” Belcher said. “They'd be committing a completely suicidal act. Completely suicidal. That's a surefire way to get Donald Trump elected president again.”
