MSNBC Host Says Media Is ‘Whining’ That Kamala Harris Won’t Talk To Them

Former Republican National Committee chairman and MSNBC host Michael Steele said Saturday that the media is “complaining” that presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris won't talk to them.

It has been 20 days since Biden gave up his reelection bid and endorsed Harris on July 21, but Harris has yet to hold a formal press conference. Harris's opponent, 2024 Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, held a 72-minute press conference on Thursday afternoon.

Steele suggested Ms Harris's avoidance of the media was a strategy resulting from favorable polling results.

“I want to pivot a little bit on that because I've been struck by the kind of snobbishness that the media has shown toward Kamala Harris since Donald Trump's press conference, which seems to me to be whining that Harris won't talk to us, they won't sit down and talk with Harris, they won't give us an interview with Harris,” Steele said.

“I watched that press conference and I thought, well, if we actually ask Donald Trump real questions and start pressuring him, that's going to create some kind of balance,” he continued. “But then I look at the polls.”

A New York Times SIENA University poll cited by Steele showed Harris leading by four points in three key battleground states: Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. (RELATED: 'What are they hiding?': CNN panelists ask Kamala Harris to face media, answer voters' questions)

“The New York Times Siena Poll has Harris leading in battleground states by 4 points, she has a 4-point lead in Michigan, 50-46, and a 4-point lead in Wisconsin, 50-46, all within the margin of error. So at some point it becomes strategic to say, 'Why should I talk to you now?'” Steele said.
