The MSNBC host broke down in tears on Saturday during an interview with a police officer who was on duty on January 6, 2021.
MSNBC host Jonathan Capehart began crying during an interview with former D.C. Metropolitan Police Department police officer Michael Fanone on the third anniversary of the Jan. 6 Capitol riot. according to To Mediaite.
“Officer Fannone, I'm going to try to get through this,” Capehart said under his breath. “Thank you. For what you did three years ago today.”

Mr. Capehart began the broadcast by describing Mr. Fanone's experience during the Capitol riot. He said former President Donald Trump embraced the rioters, the paper said.
“Former D.C. Metropolitan Police Department Police Officer Michael Fanone was there,” Capehart said. “They were fighting rioters on the west side of the Capitol.”
Capehart claimed Fanone was “dragged onto the steps of the Capitol” and “taped” by a “pro-Trump mob,” the newspaper reported. Mr Capehart said it was possible Mr Fanone suffered a heart attack at the scene and recalled that “rebels” had issued death threats. “Despite living through that horrific assault and living with the effects of its trauma, Fanone never stopped defending our democracy,” Capehart said. “He is seeking to hold those responsible accountable and has an urgent message to the American people.”
“As the 2024 presidential campaign season begins, Fanone told HuffPost: “Ultimately, it's about preserving democracy as we know it and peacefully transferring power.'' “You, the American voter, will be our last line of defense,” Capehart said. “And that's how serious it is.”
