YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) – A 21-year-old Yuma man arrested on first-degree murder charges will be released from custody because the state did not file formal charges.
The man was arrested on Friday, February 23rd, on suspicion of murdering 18-year-old Isa Granillo.
Still, many questions remain unanswered. But for now, the second suspect remains free.
Yuma County deputies said the victim was found shot inside a vehicle earlier this month.
This is after he crashes, possibly as a result of being shot.
In court, the judge said the second suspect had been released for now.
“And no charges have been filed against you at this time. The information says 'Follow-up required,' so obviously there will be additional review by the County Attorney's Office.” '' Yuma County Superior Court Judge Gregory Stewart said.
The man was released, but the court can bring charges at a later date if further evidence is found.
The first suspect, 21-year-old Maribel Ornelas, was charged with second-degree murder and remains incarcerated.
This is an ongoing investigation.
