Fallen police officers across the country were recognized during National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day on Tuesday. This annual event honors the service and sacrifice of law enforcement officers across the United States.
According to the National Fraternal Order of Police, Last year, 378 police officers were shot and killed, including eight in Alabama. Forty-six police officers were killed nationwide, including one in Alabama.
Huntsville Police Officer Garrett Crumby was killed in March while responding to a shots fired call. his partner, Officer Albert Morin was also shot and seriously injured. He remained in critical condition for a month.
Upon returning to duty in Huntsville, Morin received an outpouring of support from the department and community for his bravery.
