New Greenhouse Facility in Graham County, Arizona
Graham County, Arizona (February 13, 2024) – NatureSweet, North America’s leading vertically integrated farming company and top snack tomato brand, has expanded its greenhouse operations with a new facility in Bonita, Arizona. They have started planting and growing produce at this location.
The new operation is expected to create approximately 250 agricultural jobs over the next three years, with an investment of over $5 million dedicated to the facility itself. This move signifies NatureSweet’s ongoing growth in the U.S., a brand celebrated for its fresh tomatoes, cucumbers, and peppers. The company marked the occasion with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by local officials, including the Graham County Chamber of Commerce and the Arizona Secretary of Commerce.
Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs expressed pride in the development, stating, “This investment will help NatureSweet generate hundreds of quality jobs in rural Arizona and strengthen our vital agricultural sector.”
Rodolfo Spielmann, president and CEO of NatureSweet, emphasized that their choice of Arizona for this venture represents more than just strategy. “It’s a commitment to the innovation and opportunities that the nation provides,” he noted, looking forward to contributing positively to the region’s landscape and success.
NatureSweet, renowned for its snack and cherry tomato varieties, intends to operate as it grows its d’vines line, with the cherry tomatoes cultivated across 18 hectares (more than 44 acres) within the Bonita facilities. Alongside this, there will be other traditional organic products. The over $5 million investment from the greenhouse industry aims to bolster economic development in southern Arizona, promoting sustainable growth and community opportunities.
Arizona Senator Juan Ciscomani expressed enthusiasm for NatureSweet’s significant investment in Graham County, noting the state’s skilled workforce and innovative business environment as reasons for its attractiveness for businesses. “It’s exciting to see Graham County recognized for its contributions to our community,” he added.
Sandra Watson, president and CEO of the Arizona Department of Commerce, highlighted the importance of the ribbon-cutting event, calling it a significant win for rural Arizona and Graham County.
