NAU Golf Gears Up for Big Sky Conference Tournament

Flagstaff, Arizona (April 10, 2025) – The Northern Arizona Women’s Golf Team is scheduled to travel to Litchfield Park, Arizona for the 31st edition of the Big Sky Conference Championship. The three-day tournament will be held on the Wigwam Blue Course from April 14th to 16th, and will play for 5,948 yards as a par 71. Northern Colorado will serve as a host school.

The Lumberjacks won the championship title in 2022, scoring a total score of 872 (+8) to win by six strokes at Sacramento State. In a collision at Boulder Creek, the Lumberjacks crushed their previous low 18-hole team record at -21 with a new score of -13. They also scored a 54-hole low hole record to -12, earning an impressive -27.

Elena Slater He claimed the individual titles of the Red Rocks for the second time in her career, finishing a 3-under par. She won on one stroke and shot 69 in an event where the weather was bad. English Junior also won the home tournament as a freshman.

The team won the Pizza Hut Lady Thunderbird Invitational in St. George, Utah. Neil won her second career victory and finished with a 3-under par as an individual champion.

Slater and Neil have won the Big Sky Golfer of Week honors this season.

‘Jack was chosen to finish second in the Big Sky preseason poll, following defending champion Sacramento State. Heading into the championship, NAU ranks 91st in the nation, with only the Hornet at No. 51.

Neal leads the team with an average of 72.13 season scoring. She played 13 rounds in pars, including three in the ’60s, and has six top 20 finishes, including her individual wins.

Hodgkins continues with a score average of 72.84. The Australian sophomore has scored four top 20 finishes this season, highlighted in a solo fourth-place finish in a crash at Boulder Creek, shooting -12 in rounds 66, 71 and 67.

Lukyanenko, who averages 75.72, is third in the lineup. Dezis, a sophomore in the UK, holds an average of 74.90. She scored six rounds in par, and her best finish was in the 15th tie at the Editst Island Invitational.

New Zealand freshman Kang closes the lineup with a score average of 74.35. She came in ninth in the collision at Boulder Creek, the first full tournament, shooting rounds of 73, 71 and 67 with a total score of 211 (-6). A fellow freshman Bates holds an average of 77.00.

Lumberjacks paired with Montana and Eastern Washington in the first round, starting at Mountain Standard Time at 8:40am, with the group teeing off every 10 minutes. Tee times for rounds 2 and 3 are based on previous day’s scores.
