WASHINGTON, DC — Last week, Chairman Otto Tso and members of the 24th Annual Navajo Nation Council represented the Navajo Nation at the Tribal Internal Affairs and Budget Council (TIBC) in Washington, DC. Tribal representatives from 12 Indian problem areas.
“The 24th Navajo Nation Council continues to listen to the concerns of voters across the Navajo Nation and communicate their needs at the federal level,” said Chairman Tso. The Navajo people depend on federal programs, and leadership will continue to pursue equitable distribution of funds for essential services.”
book. Kee Allen Begay, Jr. is co-chair of the Transportation Subcommittee and Hon. Eugenia Charles-Newton is co-chair of the Public Safety & Justice Subcommittee. Other prominent delegates also serve as voting members on the Budget, Education, Data Management, and Land, Water, and Natural Resources subcommittees.
book. Begay addressed the Indian Bureau of Transportation’s lack of funding for the operation and maintenance of the Navajo Nation’s roads. Requests for additional funding have been made to pave key commuter routes to provide basic needs and essential services to the Navajo people.

As Co-Chair of the Public Security and Justice Subcommittee, Hong. Charles-Newton said the Indians dealt with funding discrepancies for public safety services across the country.
