Navajo police shoot, kill armed man during domestic violence call in Tuba City

Tuba City, Arizona (3TV/CBS 5) — A man died after Navajo police shot him during a domestic violence call on Monday, who allegedly pointed a gun at him.

In a Facebook post, Navajo Police said they responded to a home in Tuba City shortly before noon. Upon arriving at the scene, they found an armed man and a woman screaming for help. As officers approached, police saw an unidentified suspect point a gun in their direction.At that point, one officer fired at him, but missed.

The suspect then barricaded himself inside the house and ordered authorities to leave. Moments later, however, another woman approached the front door and the suspect began engaging officers again. The policeman opened fire again and hit him. The suspect was rushed from the scene and died of his injuries minutes later. No one else was hurt.

The Navajo Criminal Investigative Service and the FBI are currently investigating the case. No other information was released immediately.

This is the seventh police officer involved in a shooting outside of Maricopa County in 2023.
