The U.S. Naval Academy has reportedly invited an vocal anti-Trump guest to give the keynote speech at this month’s high-level conference.
Naval Academy hosts annual Bancroft lecture — Established to honor the work of Academy founder George Bancroft — will feature guest speaker Ruth Ben Guiat, professor of history at New York University, on October 10th. Mr. Chait announced that he would speak at the event. Ben-Ghiat criticized President Trump’s appearance with Gold Star families at Arlington National Cemetery in August on the anniversary of the 2021 withdrawal from Afghanistan, which ended in the deaths of 13 U.S. service members. Mr. Trump was invited at the request of Gold Star families, but he remains under intense scrutiny from left-wing media after being photographed in some cases at cemeteries where access is prohibited.

“Insulting and ridiculing the military is one of his most consistent habits,” Benguiat wrote. “Why would he do such a thing? His authoritarian personality, desire to destroy democratic values and ideals, and seeing the powerful US military as an obstacle to their geopolitical objectives Loyalty to the dictator.”
Benguiat also argued that “President Trump’s attitude reflects that of an authoritarian,” comparing him to Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

This seems to be a characteristic of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications. The efforts come as the military continues to struggle with recruitment and retention, problems that have worsened under the Biden-Harris administration.
