Former Denver Nuggets head coach George Karl criticized former star Carmelo Anthony on Twitter Thursday night, calling him “overrated.”
Karl reacts to a video of former Denver Nuggets and New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony telling the story of their first meeting in Denver, and Melo says Karl told him he overestimated him in 2004. He claims that he was told that it was being done.
“I got to Milwaukee, and after we finished filming, he called me into his room and said, 'Hey, I think you're overrated, I think you've got a lot of work to do.' It was,” Melo said on the podcast.7 p.m., Brooklyn”

Karl responded by quoting the video on Twitter, saying “Hey carmelo anthony Let's stop this. You're talking about 20 years ago.let's move forward And I wish your game was as effective as Detlef's because you were overrated,” the Basketball Hall of Famer tweeted Thursday night.
It's so fun. In the same tweet, Karl says he wants to move on, but then doubles down on his insults with professional-level trolling. (Related: 'Guys in Cabo': Bucks' Doc Rivers blames team's lack of focus)
It may be somewhat interesting, but objectively it's mostly false. Carmelo Anthony is arguably one of the best scorers in NBA history, and in fact, arguably one of the best players. His 28,289 points make him an NBA player 9th highest He is the all-time leading scorer, surpassing Hall of Famers like Dominique Wilkins and Moses Malone.
Anthony was never the most talented scorer, but at one point he was one of the most feared players on any court.
Karl himself was a great coach.Although he never reached the pinnacle of a championship, his 1,999 wins as a coach made him 6th all-time. However, Karl's eccentric personality often put him at odds with his players, especially Kenyon Martin.
Martin tweeted in 2016, “Everyone who played for that awful person and coach can't stand the ground he walks on.”

It looks like Melo has also joined that list.
