NBC 11 Sports: Local track and field ends mid-meet due to storm, Yuma pro boxer continues to shine & March Madness is set

YUMA, Arizona (KYMA, KECY) – A severe storm warning has been issued for the entire Yuma County, causing the track and field event at Cibola High School to be postponed prematurely.

Several field events have been completed, along with some races on the track, but the schedule is likely to change in the near future.

Meanwhile, local boxer Eric Gutierrez continues his journey on the professional boxing scene, having just won the flyweight title in San Luis, Mexico.

The Arizona State Men’s Basketball Team’s victory on the fourth Wednesday night set the 64-team field for the NCAA Tournament. The madness kicks off on Thursday, with both Arizona and San Diego tipping off on day one, with Arizona and the Grand Canyon getting the say on Friday.
