NBC Is Gloriously Returning Their Legendary ‘Roundball Rock’ Theme Amid Locking Up NBA Television Rights

NBC defied the corporate mold and actually gave the people what they wanted.

As for the NBA 2011, $75 billion As for the TV deal, what has people most excited is the league's return to NBC, specifically the fact that the network is bringing back their iconic theme song, “Roundball Rock.”

It's been in discussion for quite some time, but was made official with a flourish by NBC on Wednesday.

The iconic theme tune was featured on NBC's “NBA on NBC” broadcasts from 1990 to 2002, and according to songwriter John Tesh, it was played an estimated 12,000 times during that time.

As soon as it was reported that NBC was interested in bringing back the NBA, fans demanded the return of “Roundball Rock.”

Well folks, our wish has come true!

Like everyone else, I’ve been wanting NBC to bring back “Roundball Rock,” so I’m happy that it’s officially happening.

That being said, this is something we all expected, so it's not a huge surprise. Still, it's nice to see it official. It's just that it's July (basketball doesn't start until October) and we're in the middle of a new season of “Big Brother,” so it's hard to get excited right now.
