Flagstaff, Arizona (azfamily) – Flagstaff’s new cold case unit is working to find the answer in unresolved cold cases, which are often overlooked.
According to the report, roughly 346,000 cases have become colder and remain unresolved in the US. Project Cold Case. They can often sit for decades without answers, some never resolved.

Cold cases are nothing new to Mosher as he solved multiple things in the past. Tucson Fire Captain David Watsonkilled three women.
“I discovered that was some of the most rewarding jobs I did as a prosecutor,” Mosher said. “It not only brings justice to the victims’ families, but also to help alleviate illegal accusations.”
Once the unit gets the case, Vanessa Arcuri sorts the evidence. She said the incident they are currently working on took several weeks to sort it out.
“It’s everything from interviews, transcripts, media, photography to audio and video,” Arcuri said. “My job is basically to organize everything and put together the analysis.”
They then work with local law enforcement to carry out follow-ups and arrest them if possible.
They couldn’t say what they’re working on now, but some cases have been cold for a long time.
“There are some cases where we really get hot on what we’re looking at intimately,” Mosher said. “There are unresolved cases here that date back decades.”
Paralegal Maisie Elters will come last and prepare a case for the trial.
“I will also coordinate with witnesses and the law enforcement agencies involved and have them prepared for trial,” Elters said.
All three said that while it is a lot of work, these cases and the victims deserve justice.
“For those who have experienced this situation, it’s important to get justice no matter how old their case is,” Alkri said.
